Home Reading

The home reading program will be starting the week of September 17th.

How It Works

Every Tuesday or Wednesday a new poem will be sent home in a duo-tang.  Students and parents should be reading the poem throughout the week and completing any
indicated activities.  SK students will also have a short levelled book placed in an envelope in the back of the duo-tang. On the following Tuesday or Wednesday (1-week later) the duo-tang should be returned to school and a new poem will be inserted and sent back home on the same day.  So every week a new poem can be read and practiced at home.

 What’s In The Package
Inside the orange duo-tang there will be the following:
        New poem every week
New story (for SK students only)
The Home Reading Log: This is so you can comment on your son/daughter’s thoughts about the poem.  Please only use one row per poem.
Thanks for taking part in the Home Reading Program.  If you have any questions please do not hesitate to use the Note Tote or ask me before or after school.

September Reminders

Please continue to send the Note Totes to school everyday as they are the main form of communication. Remember that the duo-tang inside is for your own use such as newsletters, calendars, etc. Please keep this duo-tang inside the Note Tote. A few other reminders:
        Please return the Kindergarten Questionnaire
Please sign and return the Student Verification form
Please sign and return the Student Personal Identification form

Snacks

We have two nutrition breaks. One break is in the morning for a couple of healthy snacks. The second is in the afternoon for the children to enjoy a lunch. As well, sending your son or daughter to school with a plastic cup or a water bottle will make drinking throughout the day easier.
